Terms and conditions
The agreement between you and Zupelo. We have kept it short and readable, because a term nobody reads protects nobody.
Last updated: 21 August 2026 · By creating an account you agree to these terms.
The short version
- A grown-up holds the account. Children use profiles inside it
- Cancel in two taps. Full refund within 30 days of an annual payment
- Don't break the app, resell it, or use it to harm anyone
- Your child's work belongs to your child, not to us
1. Who can use Zupelo
Accounts are created and held by someone aged 18 or over — a parent, carer, guardian or teacher — who agrees to these terms and takes responsibility for the children on the account. Children use profiles within that account and cannot register on their own. Zupelo is available worldwide, and the app is provided in English.
2. Your account
Keep your login details private and tell us at hello@zupelo.com if you think someone else has them. You are responsible for activity under your account. Give us accurate information, and keep your email current so renewal notices and reports reach you.
3. Plans, payment and renewals
Zupelo offers a free plan, paid Plus and Family plans, a free classroom plan and paid School Pro, plus optional add-ons such as English Check and the Maker Box. Prices are shown before you pay and are charged in your local currency where available.
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each term. We email you at least 7 days before every renewal with the amount and the date. If we ever change the price, it will not affect a term you have already paid for, and existing subscribers keep the price they joined at for as long as they stay subscribed.
Where a free trial is offered, we tell you when it ends before it converts. Cancel any time before then and you are not charged.
4. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel at any time from the parent portal in two taps. There is no phone call, no retention offer and no cancellation fee. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and your child's progress is preserved on the free plan.
Refunds: cancel within 30 days of an annual payment and we refund it in full, no questions asked. After that we refund unused whole months on request. If you bought through an app store, that store's refund process may also apply. Nothing here reduces any refund or cancellation rights you have under the consumer law of your own country.
5. Acceptable use
Please do not: share one account with people outside your household or class; resell or rent access; copy, scrape or reverse-engineer our content or software; try to break, overload or get around the security of the service; upload anything unlawful, hateful, frightening or inappropriate for children; or use Zupelo to contact, harass or harm any child.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first. Behaviour that puts a child at risk is reported to the appropriate authorities.
6. Friends and shared content
Friend connections require approval by an adult on both sides. Children can share drawings, made games and scores with approved friends and teams only. We may review shared content to keep children safe, and we remove anything that breaks these terms.
7. Who owns what
Zupelo owns the app, the games, the lesson content, the Zupelo name and the Pelo character. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use them for learning at home or in your classroom.
Your child keeps ownership of what they make — drawings, stories, games and lab-book photos. We store it so it can be shown in the app and to you, and we do not use it to train AI models or in marketing unless you specifically ask us to.
8. Schools
Where a school uses Zupelo, the school is responsible for obtaining any consents its local rules require, for the accuracy of its class lists, and for how staff use the console. The school controls its data; Zupelo processes it on the school's instructions and returns or deletes it when the agreement ends. Separate school terms apply to School Pro and district agreements and, where they conflict with these terms, the school terms win.
9. English Check results
English Check gives an assessment of a child's English at the time they sat it. Results are honest best estimates, not a guarantee of any outcome, and no school, employer or programme is obliged to accept them. If a result is cancelled for a suspected rule breach, a human reviews it first and you can appeal free of charge.
10. Service availability
We work hard to keep Zupelo running, but we cannot promise it will never be unavailable. We may change, add or retire features to make the product better. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will tell you in advance and offer a fair refund of the unused portion.
11. Our responsibility to you
Zupelo helps children learn. It is a supplement to school and family, not a replacement for either, and we do not promise any particular grade, score or result. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights under the consumer law of your own country, which always apply on top of these terms.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change we will email account holders at least 30 days beforehand. Carrying on using Zupelo after that means you accept the new version. If you do not, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your term.
13. Disputes
Talk to us first — most things are solved in one email to hello@zupelo.com. If we cannot resolve it, you may bring a claim in the courts of your own country of residence, and consumers keep the protection of their local law.
These are sample terms prepared for a concept product and are not legal advice. Before launch they must be reviewed and localised by qualified counsel in every market. See also our privacy policy and disclaimer.
