The honest bit about Khan Academy Kids
It is free, excellent and ad-free. It also stops at eight and has no chess, code, music, robotics, friends or social layer. Use both. When your child turns nine, we will be here.
Why we can charge less
They each built one product for one subject. We built one engine that runs twelve academies, so the twelfth costs a fraction of the first. That saving goes into the price, not the margin.
A family of three
Three children on Zupelo Family is $39 a year, total. The same three on a maths app plus a reading app is closer to $400 — and still no chess, code or music.
Other apps' published list prices as at August 2026; these change often, especially during sales. Check each provider for today's price. Zupelo is independent and not connected to any company named here.
Two add-ons. That is the whole list.

Pricing questions
Is the free plan actually usable?
Yes. One academy, five games a day, with the full adaptive engine, streaks, shells and one friend. That is around twenty minutes of real learning a day. Plenty of families stay free for months and that is fine with us.
What happens if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. You drop to the free plan, keep the streak, the shells, the badges and the skill map, and pick one academy to carry on with. Come back later and everything is where you left it.
Do you charge more as my child gets older?
No. The same $24 covers a three-year-old learning letter sounds and a seventeen-year-old learning machine learning. That is the point of one account for fifteen years.
Which currencies and payment methods?
Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and local wallets in most markets. You are charged in your own currency wherever we support it.
